My Medicare

What is My Medicare?

It is a voluntary enrolment program for patients to identify their usual medical practice and their regular GP. You can only enrol in one practice at any given time, though there is no restriction in transferring your enrolment to a different practice – for example if you move elsewhere.

What are the benefits?

Mallee Border Health Centre require patient enrolment for:

  • Determining eligibility for phone consultations
  • Determining eligibility for bulk billing of concession card holders

Will MBHC now bulk bill me for Consultations?

The budget announced in May 2023 will allow for doctors (GP Only) to bulk bill:

  • Concession/Pension card holders
  • Children under the age of 16

Medicare has introduced a special “Bulk Billing Incentive Payment” to provide extra funding to cover rapidly rising practice costs. Patients registered with Mallee Border Health Centre who possess a concession/pension card will be offered bulk billed (GP Only) consultations.

Phone Consultations/Short Consultations

  • Bulk Billing to eligible patients will only apply to face-to-face consultations. New Medicare restrictions on phone consultations prevent the doctors from bulk billing phone consultations.

What if I choose not to register, or register with another practice?

You will be welcomed, treated with courtesy and respect and provided with high quality health care. However, you will not be eligible for a bulk billed consult.

How do I enrol?

There are multiple ways you can register with your chosen practice in MyMedicare:
